NCVT ITI Trades

In this article,we will share details about NCVT ITI Trades. With a view to providing better employment opportunities to the young generation, the Indian government has established a number of government and private technical institutions across the union territories and all states. The ITIs are under the control of NCVT. In order to meet the needs of various industries, there are 126 trades including 76 engineering, 48 non-engineering, and 05 of them are specifically for Blinds. National Trade Certificates are awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) upon successful completion of the course. These certificates are recognized nationally and internationally.

Including training, policy-making, roles, and exam procedures, the government is responsible for framing the overall vocational training process. In addition to skills, 25% of ITI’s syllabus is composed of theoretical material. Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are administered and run by state governments and union territories.

The central government, however, is responsible for policy-making and the overall framework of ITIs.

The National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) is responsible for establishing norms and standards governing the training system at the national level. The council has set up five boards to regulate its policies: Board for Apprenticeship, Board for Craftsmen Training Scheme, Board for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Board of Governors for Special Areas in Vocational Training (SAVT), and Board of Governors (BoG). All these boards report to the National Council on Vocational Training.

ITI’s are divided into three broad types depending upon who can attend them: Public ITI’s that accept all students regardless of where they live or what their financial status is, Government ITI’s that have a quota for students from each state and accept only those selected to attend the training course, and Private ITI’s.

Almost all states have a Directorate of Technical Education & Vocational Training which falls under the Department of Education. There are also Boards for Apprenticeship Training in some states. The Board has its own Governing Body as well as Executive Committee with Chairman as State Chief Inspector of Apprentice training (also called as Administrator). In addition to this there is Liaisoning Authority which liaises between National Council on Vocational Training and State Council on Vocational Training.
